Science Lesson Plans

  • Ed Helper. This page contains links to different types of lesson plans that can be used in science classes.
  • Classification. This is a kindergarten lesson plan that pertains to classifying animals and making observations of animals.
  • Bird Feeders. This is a link to a K-3 lesson plan that involves building a bird feeder in order to observe the habits of birds.
  • Identification. This is a 3-6 grade level lesson plan that pertains to identifying birds based upon their general characteristics and sounds.
  • Animal Adaptations. This is a 4-5 grade level lesson plan that pertains to identifying the differences and reasons for different bird adaptations.
  • Animal Adaptations. This is a sixth grade lesson plan pertaining to a hands-on activity that involves studying the relationship between a bird's beak and the kinds of food it eats.
  • Mammals. This link is to a 6-8 grade level lesson plan that pertains to the habitat of mammals, the adaptation of mammals, and the behaviors of mammals.
  • Scientific Method. This link is to a 7-10 grade level lesson plan that involves making observations and formulating a hypothesis.
  • Observations. This is a 8-12 grade level lesson plan that pertains to conducting outdoor observations. It also includes a field notes handout for teachers.

  • Anatomy of a Bird. This is a link to a page that contains information on basic bird biology. It also contains links to additional pages regarding more information on birds (such as birds' beaks).
  • Animal Facts. This is a link to a page that contains additional information regarding animals. It also contains puzzles that can be used when studying different animals.
  • Data Gathering Sheet. This is a link to a data gathering sheet that can be used when observing birds.
  • The Bird's Body. This is a link to a page that identifies the parts of a bird's body.
  • Enchanted Learning. This particular link goes to supplemental materials that can be used in your classes. It contains printouts of different animals from amphibians to zebras. These printouts can be used for students to learn about the different body parts of animals.
  • Form. This is a link to a pet observation form. It can help generate some ideas you may want to include on an observation form to be used when studying the animals at the zoo.
  • Order of Birds. This is a link to a page that lists the different orders of birds.
